Why this rush?

At last the government is going to face the vote of confidence. The nuclear issue was a matter of chaos for Indians. But now it catches the eyes of all citizens in the context of the new political developments in the centre. The CPI (M) kept their word and withdrew their support to the UPA. All are eager to watch the movements of the parties represent the parliament.

What controls our political leaders is still a difficult task to find out. Our respected PM, Mr. Manmohan singh is haste to sign the agreement. At the same time Mr. Prakash karat is completely against such a decision. But the opposition party leader Mr. Lal Krishna Advani would be ready to renegotiate with US about the deal if he where the prime minister. Observing all these we could easily conclude that something suspicious power is acting under the deal and decisions.

The Indian Express is sure that a business alliance is there behind all the ‘progressive’ or ‘democratic’ alliances. Ambanies play a major role in this nuclear deal. Anil Ambani accepts the policy merely for his own advantage. Mukesh Ambani, on the other hand,
is using his strength to prevent it at any cost. “Corporate battles have the government brought down in the past. But what is ‘new’ this time is the Prime Minister of India being called upon to mediate personally in a corporate war to save his government” The Express says. What is interesting is that the congress is not ready to discuss the issue with their supporter. It shows they are not straightforward to in this matter. Manmohan sigh is ready to face any situation in the path to sign the deal. He only fears the thing (whatever it may be) that may make the deal closed for ever. He is not ready to reveal the agreement terms of the deal as he himself not aware of them. His attitude is like the agreement is something secret and not to be known by common men or at least the splinter parties of the ruling alliance UPA.

“Why this rush?” a question asked by The Times to Mr. Bush is the same question we wish to ask too. ‘Look before you leap’ is the adage what will happen without that look is our experience.Mysteries and suspicions add curiosity to a subject. In real life, but it is a matter of confusion and sometimes frighten us. Here is the example. Disclose all promises mentioned in the agreement and hear what the country says. Clear the air before going ahead with the nuclear deal. A nation will be with you, Mr. Singh…

N-deal: Holocaust for the Indian Government?

The parliament all set to the trust vote, parties and alliances are rearraying themselves. Horseplays and great Indian ropetricks are all in vogue.
1. The govt is concerned about the hostility of Muslim voters sicnce the nuclear treaty with U.S. will normally be considered against the interests of Muslim nations. To soothe this ill feeling the govt highlights its relations with Iran.
2. Amidst allegations and conjectures of the Ambani brothers' rivalry playing a major role in deciding political alignments, Mukesh Ambani meets prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Mukesh's younger brother Anil is said to have closer connections with the Congress. He is close to Amar Singh of Samajwadi Party who has offered support to the govt. The Bacchan family having close ties with the Nehru family also is believed to be a close friend of Anil. Amar Singh (SP) has roped in Subrato Roy of Sahara group to woo MPs in favour of the govt. On the whole it is a big game of politics; a big game of business and money power as well.

national turmoil

No issue has rocked the nation in the recent times with such magnitude as has the Indo-US nuclear treaty. The matter is a topic of hot discussion across the nation and has become a major bone of contention.

Manmohan Singh government's handling of the matter has drawn a lot of flak. The haste and impulsiveness they showed to sign the deal while a majority had no inkling of the matter has been subjected to sharp criticism. The Indian citizens were kept in the dark on the contents of the agreement, and yet the government was rushing to clinch the deal.

The Bahujan Samaj Party withdrew their support to the Congress-led UPA government citing reasons of inflation and UPA’s failure to keep promises. The CPI (M) was persistent in its demands for transparency of the treaty and when their deadline to the govt. to back out from the deal was ignored, they were forced to pull out of the UPA.

Eminent personalities of the scientific field of the likes of P.J. Abdul Kalam claim India would be greatly benefitted by this deal with guarantee of uninterrupted nuclear fuel supplies and clean nuclear energy. But at what cost? Signing the deal invariably means surrendering to the US discretion in our nuclear matters.

The situation has now escalated into political chaos, and a vote of confidence has been called for on July 22 for the govt. to prove its majority. The Congress-led UPA government has assured the nation that it will move forward with the deal only if it wins the trust vote on July 22. Small and regional parties have a major role to play in the outcome of the trust vote, but they resort to cheap politics at this crucial juncture, and their intentions are purely selfish.

The issue at hand has thrown the whole country into disarray, and an election seems inevitable and just around the corner. The contents of the deal should be laid bare. Since it is a matter of national importance where India’s sovereignty is threatened, the issue should be seriously considered and all the pros and cons debated sensibly. The political parties should have the nation's interest as priority above their selfish motives, and the nuclear deal should be signed if and only if found to be in the best interests of the nation.
