ABOUT WOMEN AGAIN
The tri -colour flag of India for the 63rd year was hoisted in the red fort a few days before. Indian freedom was not accomplished in a day; it is the result of the painstaking efforts of our national leaders, their quest for freedom, their unbiased unity and their longing for the future generations. After 63 year long ride of Indians with the country independent, where they able to fulfill the dreams of those leaders who invested their soul and life for the country?
While addressing the nation in the dawn of Independence Day, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh pointed out two barriers country is yet to overcome—Terrorism and Naxalism. But aren’t there baser things which our country is yet to tackle? Today the question that goes through my mind is, are we free yet? Though Indian women took an active participation in the struggle for freedom they miserably failed to free themselves from the clutches of male domination. Men are supposed to have the rights to do whatever they want. But what is the status of the women? Of course, women have physical drawbacks when compared to men. But other than that, they have all the privileges enjoyed by men. The perspective of a woman in India is largely shaped by the society. We are forced to say that woman herself curtails her freedom. A grown up girl is put under immense scare by her family, citing the atrocities inflicted on her by men. Our media have got a prime role in instigating fear in women. Thousands of people die owing to thousands of reasons; but media neglects all these and are selective in

reporting the murder of a minor girl or a rape incident. The
Cynical attitude of Indian media while dealing with women is highly contemptible. Instead of giving women the confidence and strength for self defense, society asks her to lock herself up in the house. I doubt, is this freedom? I feel sorry for those women patriots who fought for the freedom of our country; their efforts have gone in vain. They were to preach that locking themselves indoor for the whole day doesn’t mean freedom.
It’s time for women to remove the scales from their eyes. They should air their voice against whatever they think is wrong. Never believe that this is the misuse of freedom because freedom of women in India is still an elusive dream yet to get its shape.
Anees Jung the noted writer while addressing United Nations Fund for Population Activities said that after travelling across the country she found Kerala and Punjab most deplorable in treating women with dignity, though Kerala stands the highest in literacy rate. The greed of Keralites and the sudden development of the state is said to be the reason. Even men in India are frightened to open up. They believe words like “sex” and “feminism” are still taboo in the society. What India needs today is an open forum to discuss these things. Schools and colleges should act as centres of such discussions because they shape the future of India.

Kangaroo V/s Tiger

Are you a fan of the Australian cricket team? If you are one amongst them kindly pardon me for attacking the attacking team not for their arrogance on the field but towards the Indians in their country. The spot light of Indian media is on the Australians for more than a week or so. Indians are being mercilessly beaten up by the aboriginal youngsters of Australia. The natives are infuriated with the archaic word “racism”. The tradition of India shows that the word is not newborn. For centuries our country was doomed with this filthy word racial discrimination. The most interesting thing is that we are still witnessing these atrocities in the so called tech or nano era.

Recently I read Goldie Osuri an Indian teacher in the university of Sidney writing that Australians tempt to over look the word ‘race’ saying “race is an overused word”. Now this word seems to bee under looked word for them, not when our Baji was put under the scanner with the charge of racially abusing the extra decent Symonds of the Australian Cricket Team( who is now watching the 20/20 at home for his extra decent temperament). The recent police insistence on the Indians in Australia is not to use the ipods and laptops in public places for this might invite problems. I have a very serious doubt, are these Australians dud in using computers. A very recent press release of the AUS government says that the reason for Indians being targeted is their peculiar physical features. It seems that Australians have had a tie up with the oxford for deleting the word ‘race’ for its dictionary and so they are waiting for the one million and 1th word to be coined. The Rudd government of Australia is on an attempt to go back to an antediluvian era

marked in the history of Australia where there is even scope for indigenous self discrimination.

I thought obamas, sworning in as the US president of the US will bring about a sea change in the attitude of the Caucasoid but I now realize that it was just an elusive target. The attacks on the Indian students in Australia was a fumigating act of crime for years which now erupted with immense media sensation in India though the news is hushed up in the Australian dailies like ‘The Australian’.

Why to blame Australians solely, we Indians too have a decisive role to play. The agents who recruit the students to the universities expose the colour of being a foreign student but cover-up many darker sides of being a foreign student. About 1/5 of the total seats allotted for the foreigner are filled in by the Indian students ,among them 30% study in mainstream universities which have adequate security but the rest are in some smaller institutions where they fail to provide security. They become soft targets. So India needs to curb the recruitment of students to enroll in shop front institutions. A specter is attacking Australia, the specter of racism. Racist incidents will continue to occur in Australia unless stringent actions are taken against the culprits.

Before You Decide your candidate

It is the prerogative of every citizen to bounce back into the follies committed by the government and its allies for filling their pockets. As a citizen one has  got the privilege to ask the concerned authorities what they have done for the welfare of the country or the state.

The utter confusion owing to the up coming election has its effect on our state too. The ruling party and the opposition are in a look out for the most influential candidate for their booths. The internal conflict in the party has  raised its head and are throwing tantrum each other for no reason but “Power”. The sanctity of  being a candidate is lost and power is now the name of the game for a few years. They come up with open attack on the delegate proposed for nomination. The former MLA wants to become minister and the minister wants to become MP. The hierarchy of  Politics is being targeted by them but unfortunately some fail to get access to it. Most often man with money and muscle power hails over these posts and the sincere leaders will be marginalized. The political game has now turned out to be filthier than the word itself. People should fight back to make a change possible. Time has exceeded and this election should be a one to prove that we the people of India are not gullible.

Terrorism

The most flabbergasted word now in our dailies is Terrorism. The violence unleashed in the cities of Bombay Ahmadabad and Kashmir was the ones which filled the dailies for the last few months. It is quite unbearable to see the pictures of the diseased in the dailies .The cannibalistic atrocities of the gangsters have now taken a u- turn. Their strategies are more or less inhuman and cynical.

Who is a terrorist?

There is a misconception about the terrorists. Before the sep.11 attack people believed that a terrorist is  one with long beard and a coxcomb. The attack on Taj proved that they are disguised in the plain dresses as we wear. So even a man on the street can be suspected for a terrorist, but it is not practical to do so. How can a terrorist be brought into the lights? It is only possible through the vigilance of the public. In Bangalore a number of bombs were defused only because of the vigilance of the public. There is a lot to do as a citizen of our nation and one is to keep it aloof from the hand s of the blood thirsty traitors and terrorists.

The attacks on our nation which presumably is done by our neighboring Pakistan and its terrorist organizations aim at disturbing the economic growth of our country. ISI and its allies are knocking Indian borders vigorously for a war but our patience is beyond the limit. There is a tendency among other countries to bombard the rivals in the name of terror but they are unaware that they themselves are committing terror by killing innocent people. There is no use in setting off for a battle of that sought. The innocent will suffer and terrorists will be in safe covers. The factor that induces the traitors to attack is that of the divinity they offer for the malpractice the do on others.

The statistics shows that almost 70% of the terrorists are hailing from low class families and the most astound thing is that most of them are teenagers.

Defining Terrorism is exactly like putting hands into hot water. So better not define it rather analyse it and try to curb its menace in the coming days. Many diplomats have pondered into the reason behind the terrorists making India their hot spot for attacks. The conclusion they came to was something reasonable. America after the 9/11 attack took stringent measures against conspirators; they gave it a title “Fight Against Terrorism”. The lives lost in the 9/11 attack was around 3000, to counter another attack of this magnitude American military culled almost 1 million lives. 3000:1million, does this make any sense. But this senselessness made America terror of the terrorists.
