Bajrang Dal: Embodiment of irrational violence and hatred? Terrorism redefined?

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad was formed by Swami Chinmayananda with the aim of safeguarding the Hindu religion, and Bajrang Dal came into being as its youth wing.  Bajrang refers to Hanuman, the mythological Hindu monkey god.  Today, the Bajrang Dal is responsible for spreading communal violence across India.  Strong supporters of the Hindu spirit, they are on the rampage against the Christian and Muslim communities in India.

Their argument is that since Hindus constitute the major population in India, India should be a Hindu state.  To achieve their political objective, they are resorting to unlawful use of violence against the minority groups, creating fear and insecurity in the minds of the people.

Bajrang Dal, today, is a shame to Hinduism and its tolerant culture.  Anti-Christian attacks in Orissa, Karnataka, and elsewhere in the country; mass killing of Muslims in Gujarat - the list of atrocities committed by the Dal are endless.  The Bajrang Dal activists are no different from the terrorists in that they have adopted the path of violence to attain their goal.  Involved in fomenting terror, there is demand to place Bajrang Dal on the same platform as SIMI.

The government is beginning to take a hard look at the Bajrang Dal and the faction is currently on the terror watch list.
